A new law has come into force in Scotland that requires every home in Scotland to have an interlinked smoke alarm. This is to help keep homes safe and people protected. To prove your alarm is the correct type and installed appropriately, you need to ensure that it is approved by the FPA (Fire Protection Association). The easy way for you to do this and take the hassle out of updating your alarms is to contact our team. We provide full installation certificates and can also help you to find out if you are eligible for government funding towards the cost of the new alarms.

The new standard requires:
One smoke alarm installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes. One smoke alarm in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings, One heat alarm is installed in every kitchen.
All alarms should be ceiling mounted and interlinked. Where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance (such as boilers, fires (including open fires) and heaters) or a flue, a carbon monoxide detector is also required which does not need to be linked to the fire alarms.
